Paul Andrew hits Cumbernauld where it hurts

Bell Tolls for Cumbernauld

David Bell touched down for Clydebank's only score of the day to win at Cumbernauld 3-5.

It has been a long time since Clydebank travelled to Auchenkilns and won which made the win even sweeter.

The conditions were wet and depressing but the Clydebank players kept to the script and took a deserved win which means they now sit second in the league after two matches played

The 2ndXV started their campaign against Allan Glens but failed to gel in their first match together when they were defeated 10-67.

Banana Skin Avoided

This was a match against last years Div 2 undefeated champions and was a potential banana skin in the making.  Millbrae are a very experienced team who know how to play rugby and managed to put Clydebank off their game.  However, even with the days catalogue of challenges the team prevailed winning 17-14 and maintained the winning streak.

The 2ndXV improved on last weeks performance but with only fourteen men. They lost to Garnock 29-10 but are certainly heading in the right direction.  Tries came from Connor Sloss who had an impressive game at No8 and Owen Gent who returned from a long lay off from the game.

Clydebank Avoid Long Arm of the Law

Clydebank continued their winning streak but didn't do it well away to the Police who have often had the better of the encounter in recent years.

However, they did look good in their new strips sponsored by the Six Bells Pub.

The score was 3-16 with most of the points coming from the boot of Ross Moffatt while Scott McIntosh finished off a break made by Michael Starkey with a try.

The Police team managed to stifle most of the chances of the Clydebank attack although they did manage to waste a few themselves.

The 2ndXV initially struggled to field a team but managed to collect fifteen with minutes to spare.  Unfortunately, the Dalziel opposition was too good as they ran in around ten tries without reply.

The Minis combined with Lomond to travel to Paisley and put in a good show to win some and lose some but had great fun overall.

Youth Rugby Dominates Weekend Action

With the senior matches off at the weekend it was up to the youth teams to represent the club on the rugby field on Sunday.

The U17's travelled to Hughenden where they met a very experienced Hill/Jills team but put in a strong show of tackling to limit the scoring ability of the home team.

Although the U17's lost they showed a lot of improvement and considering a lot of the regular players were missing and some new players took to the field it was not a bad day all round.

The U15's welcomed Uddingston to Whitecrook and provided a win for the club with a score of 17-15.

The match was a seesaw affair but the Clydebank forwards were dominant and the overall defence robust, highlighted by the Uddingston attack being held up twice over the line preventing scores.

The Clydebank scores came from Calum Smith, Andrew Chisholm and Kevin McCord who scored a try each and a conversion from Jack Kirkwood.
